Day 20 - Harajuku & Shibuya
These days of rain are really killing me. It starts with a morning full of dark skies and heavy rain that puts you in such a lazy mode. Unfortunately because of it, many of my friends decided to go straight home after school. Oh well, I'm always up for doing something, no matter the weather. I'm only here once after all~
Although I hadn't planned to go somewhere new today, it was something other than sitting in my apartment doing nothing -- so I went ahead with a few friends to Harajuku. Umbrellas filled the street and water poured down onto everyone relentlessly. After a few stores half of the group went off and headed back home because they had only wanted to stay long enough to help Pinky find a sweater. Clinton, Lynn, and I decided to move along and head over to Shibuya.
Shibuya is somewhere I've visited four times now including this, so it wasn't something excitingly new. But, it beats venturing new places on such a poor weather day -- I'd rather save the first experience for when it's nice and sunny. Walking around the same streets made me realize just how big each city is, and how many new stores I find each time I visit.
We took a look in different stores, and Clinton was able to find a nice pair of shoes from a discount store. Lynn got some cards from a massive 7-story store called 'Loft'. And I, well I did some window shopping. The last time I was in Star Jewelry (japan's Tiffany & Co) with Joy & Hisami I found some rings that I wanted -- so within the jewelry section of Loft I was checking out what they had. They did have similar rings for just about the same price, but with the ferocity the clerks came to help me with, I did shy away a bit more than I did at the first place.
Although, it was interesting to try and explain certain things to her when I was trying on the rings, and she was throwing all these unknown words to me as though she thought I knew what she was saying. And at the end, I didn't know how to appropriately walk away so all I said was 'Kangaeru" (I'm thinking) and walked away. Haha, I forgot some key words that would've made it sound more natural like 'I'll be thinking about it' but oh well.
Afterward it felt as though it was 10 or 11pm -in actually it was 7pm- so we all went back home. I suppose weather does change the mood of people, and does affect whether or not you will do something. In any case, I hope for the best these upcoming days and the weekend.
