Day 18 - Shinbashi & Karaoke
So today was another day where Clinton & I wanted to check out the different cities around Tokyo. And so our target for today was Shinbashi, a place we knew nothing about. But what could go wrong, right? I mean there's plenty to do in every city I'm sure.
Well, that's what I thought at least until we got there. So the five of us who decided to travel got out of the station and all there really was to see was tall, very tall buildings. I had imagined something a bit different, perhaps a bit more crowded, but I suppose it was more of a business district. We walked around taking pictures of things here and there, and somehow managed to find not only a small shrine where we prayed, but the NHK Museum. NHK is one of the major broadcasting stations here, so that was pretty cool.
We walked through the doors of the museum only to find out we were just over two minutes too late -- they had closed. So we just checked out their very small gift store and picked out something to remember it by. By this time it was already around 6pm, around the arranged time to call Hisami (Joy's friend) to go to karaoke. Unfortunately we weren't able to get a hold of them so we went on ahead back to Shinjuku anyway.
Once we got there we decided to eat first and try calling them again. Well, we figured there is a phone booth right outside the Karaoke-Kan so we were walking toward it and what do you know -- Joy and Hisami were just standing outside waiting. They felt so bad for not hearing our previous calls that they decided to wait about 15min after our "meet up" time. That was lucky of us because it was already 10min after.
Although expensive, it was a fun hour in the karaoke room singing to some popular songs & some classic Disney ones. And again, I think it must be those with pure Japanese ancestry who can sing amazingly in karaoke -- I'm just not quite sure.
In any case, that was my whole day. And when asked by the others what we did in Shinbashi, that's about all we have to say about it. It wasn't an adventurous day, but hopefully the other cities around Tokyo will bring more excitement than this one did today.
